Re: Sawbones

Sawbones is old slang for a physician, esp. a surgeon. It's where Leonard McCoy on Star Trek got his nickname "Bones".

Thanks for that bit, didn't know. The real visual i had was going back towards the early 20th century around the 1st two World Wars. Medicine was much more rudimentary and primal. A lot of times, limbs were lost to prevent further infection.

Star Wars in general tends to draw many of it's references back from historic elements. Which is very neat seeing the connections!

Cool, I had not heard the sawbones term before. Knowing it actually comes from a real nick-name makes me feel better about it.

With the naughties though, I thought "naughties" referred to the previous decade because it had more 0's (naughts)?

Suzina it is true that the naughty did arrive from 2000, but unless they change to the 10th's 11th's ext they will keep it that way till 2013 and then it should change, to like you said the teens.
